Jamaica’s Miss Universe representative, Dr. Gabrielle Henry, who was injured after a fall during the evening gown segment of the pageant in Thailand last week, is now “in good health and nearing discharge,” according to Miss Universe Organization President Raúl Rocha.
In a statement posted to his social media account on Monday, Rocha addressed days of public speculation and provided the clearest update yet on Dr. Henry’s condition.

“Over the past four days, there have been difficult moments and unexpected concerns. However, thanks to the excellent medical care provided, each issue was successfully resolved,” the release said. Rocha added that the latest medical report confirmed Henry is recovering well, noting that additional precautionary measures — some beyond standard protocol — were taken to ensure thorough evaluation and monitoring.
The Organization also brought in extra medical specialists to conduct independent assessments and verify the full scope of her injuries.
Withdrawal From Competition
Last Friday, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization announced that Dr. Henry had withdrawn from the competition on medical advice and was being treated in the ICU of a Thai hospital. A statement issued earlier by Jamaica’s Minister of Culture Olivia Grange on behalf of Henry’s family confirmed that she suffered head trauma and lacerations to her chin and foot after falling from the stage.
Rocha, in his updated statement, emphasized that the Miss Universe team acted swiftly.
“From the moment the onstage accident occurred, immediate action was taken to ensure her safety and well-being,” he said. “I personally entered the stage to assist her, coordinated urgent medical care, and oversaw her transfer to the hospital.” He added that he remained at the emergency room with her family members.
Family and Support
Dr. Henry continues to recover in Thailand, accompanied by her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, and their mother, Maureen Henry. Rocha confirmed that the Miss Universe Organization is covering all expenses for Henry and her family, including travel, accommodation, and ongoing support.
“While unfounded speculation has circulated publicly, our attention has remained entirely on Dr. Henry’s care,” the statement added. “We are grateful she is now close to being released from the hospital.”
