The New York City Day of Prayer Task Force, in partnership with the Christian Cultural Center, announces the return of the annual New York City Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Christian Cultural Center Brooklyn Campus.
Observed annually on the first Thursday of May in alignment with the National Day of Prayer designated by the United States Congress, the New York City Day of Prayer is a celebration of our nation and city’s long history of religious freedom, protection, and expression, enabling every citizen to pray according to their own faith and tradition.

A New Chapter for a Cherished Tradition
For the past eight years, the New York City Day of Prayer has been observed with proclamations from the NYS Governor and the Mayor of New York City, celebrated between Brooklyn Borough Hall and City Hall. Throughout that time, the Christian Cultural Center has served as a steadfast hub for collective and communal prayer for the people of New York City.
This year marks a bold and historic milestone. For the first time, the New York City Day of Prayer will stand independent from any elected office, rooted entirely in faith and community. The event will be hosted by Dr. A.R. Bernard, Pastor Jamaal Bernard, and Pastor Gil Monrose, and will feature special guest speakers and musical artists from across New York City’s rich and diverse faith community.
About the NYC Day of Prayer Task Force
The New York City Day of Prayer Task Force was established to support, grow, and sustain this important annual observance. The Task Force is committed to including faith leaders, elected officials, and residents from all five boroughs; promoting awareness across New York City’s diverse communities; coordinating houses of worship, civic institutions, and community partners; and crafting a meaningful experience that inspires unity, hope, and fellowship for all New Yorkers.
