From three-time Olympic gold medalist Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to the previously-mentioned Thompson-Herah, Jamaica has a track record of producing world-beating female sprinters.
So it may come as a surprise that the Caribbean island’s fastest junior 200m runner isn’t one of those all-time greats, but rising star Shanoya Douglas.

She successfully defended her 100m and 200m titles, winning the longer sprint in a world-leading 22.11 (1.9m/s). Not only did it smash Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s Games record from 13 years ago, it propelled Douglas to equal third on the world U20 all-time list, tied with sprint legend Allyson Felix.
It also took 0.25 off the Jamaican U20 record Douglas set in Kingston last month and is the fastest ever time by a Caribbean U20 athlete.
Earlier in the Games, Douglas had won the 100m title in 11.13 (-0.8m/s), and she followed that by anchoring Jamaica to victory in the 4x100m in 43.76.
“I’m super proud of myself that I’m able to come out here and deliver such amazing performances a week after Champs,” said the world U20 200m bronze medalist. “I wanted to break the 100m record actually, but I knew I had to leave the Carifta Games with a record as it’s my final year.”
At the 2026 Carifta Games in Grenada, Douglas won three gold medals, including in the 100m and 200m.
Her fastest 200m time of 22.11 seconds places her third on the global all-time under-20 list – tied with American great, Allyson Felix.
