The Office of the President recently revealed that Hon. David Lammy, the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, made his first official visit to Guyana.
Lammy conducted bilateral talks with President Irfaan Ali about strengthening the two countries’ ties.

In a brief statement, the Office of the President announced, “Discussions at State House on Friday evening focused on advancing partnership on climate change, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and childcare.”
Lammy’s Guyanese parents were honored with a cocktail event given by President Ali.
During the event, it was emphasized that the UK supports Guyana’s territorial integrity, as well as security cooperation and development projects.
In his succinct remarks, Mr. Lammy expressed his excitement about the possibility of future collaborations between Guyana and the UK.
The President emphasized that HE Jane Miller, the British High Commissioner to Guyana, had fostered that connection.
Among those present were the Honorable Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo, the Vice President; Brigadier (ret’d) the Honorable Mark Phillips, the Prime Minister; and other high-ranking government officials.
