While Padma Lakshmi was in Jamaica for the Calabash Literary Festival, she took the opportunity to share her experience with the food. The renowned Indian-born American author, food expert, philanthropist, Emmy-nominated producer, and television host, shared her love for different dishes in a series of posts.
Lakshmi helped herself to jerk chicken, grilled pineapple, and plantains at Jakes Treasure Beach and shared one video with the caption:

“I made it through Jamaica without burning my mouth ???? this was my first time eating fried breadfruit, a versatile, starchy, island treat ???????? you can slice it thin or thick to make chips or fries— you can even turn it into flour!!”
In another eating bombay mangoes, she said: “Gonna be dreaming about these bombay mangoes all summer ???? anyone know where to get them in the city??”
Lakshmi has hosted the cooking competition program Top Chef on Bravo continuously since season 2 (2006). For her work, she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Host in 2009 and 2020 through 2022. She is also the creator, host, and executive producer of the critically acclaimed docuseries Taste the Nation with Padma Lakshmi, which premiered in June 2020 on Hulu and explores the food and culture of immigrant and indigenous communities across America. In 2022, Taste the Nation: Holiday Edition won a James Beard Foundation Award in the Visual Media – Long Form category.
She has published six books:
