The nation has been praying heavily for the well-being of Former Prime Minister and former leader of the People National Party Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, who served for over 40 years, was hospitalized In the non-emergency ward last week.
The Jamaica Observer was informed by a source close to Simpson Miller on Friday afternoon, “She has made a change for the better. The medication worked overnight, and she is now stable.”

Many people expressed their concern for Simpson Miller’s health on social media after learning that she had been hospitalized. Simpson Miller, who is beloved and who became Jamaica’s first female prime minister in 2006, was the subject of many posts from individuals who adores the former PM.
The People National Party recently updated the public noting that the beloved political giant popularly referred to as Mama P is “doing well and is being supported by a capable medical team and her loved ones”.
The PNP party thanked everyone for their prayers and well wishes for her, saying they are wishing for “good health and a speedy recovery.”
Mark Golding, the opposition leader, and current PNP president asked Jamaicans to “unite in prayer for her to regain her strength and be back in the comfort of her home” in a recent Twitter post.
Additionally, Daryl Vaz, Minister of Science, energy, and technology, tweeted: “My prayers for Mama P at this time. My dad and her had a special friendship which passed down to me. Get well soon.”
Young Jamaica, a youth organization affiliated with the Jamaica Labor Party (JLP), the country’s ruling party, expressed its sadness at learning of Simpson Miller’s hospitalization and wished for her “speedy full recovery.”
They noted in a statement, “Portia connected with Jamaicans and evoked genuine love from all walks of life throughout her four decades of public service. She is a symbol of perseverance and affability, with an everlasting legacy of positive contribution to the nation.”
