She begins the song with the line, “Trinidad my country, the greatest carnival of all time,” I’m standing up for my true flag, which is “that red, white, and black.”
Nicki recently participated on the “Tukoh Taka” song, which is the 2022 World Cup theme song, with Maluma and Lebanese singer Myriam Fares in November. Since then, she has been mostly under the radar in terms of her musical production. Her “Super Freaky Girl” track, which she released earlier, helped her shatter a significant record.
As “Super Freaky Girl” entered its 20th week on the chart on New Year’s Day, Nicki Minaj beat Missy Elliott’s record for the longest-charting female rapper on the Billboard Hot 100. Being the first female solo rap single to do so since Lauryn Hill’s 1998 hit “Doo Wop (That Thing),” the song also made chart history upon its release which gave Hills the title, “greatest female rapper of all time” according to hip hop fandom.
In a November interview, Nicki declared that her fifth studio album will be out “soon.” The project will come after Queen from 2018, which sold 185,000 album-equivalent units in its first week and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
On i-D, Nicki said to City Girls rapper JT, “I feel like whenever I’m happy, I deliver the best music.” She added, “And in order for me to deliver the best music for my album – which is coming out soon – I have to tap back into the essence of Hip Hop.”
Throughout other parts of the chat, Nicki made it clear that she is prioritizing the release of her fifth studio album, giving fans optimism that it will happen soon.
