Popcaan, a dancehall performer, has asked his followers to support him in starting a “first time in America campaign” as he wonders why he cannot visit the United States.
Just a few days after the release of his album Great Is He, the singer questioned the travel limitations on Twitter on Thursday.

“Why they let me into everywhere except America? Something not right! Well, I would like to see what America look like,” he noted.
He then exhorted his audience of more than 600,000 people to launch the “1st time in America campaign.”
Popcaan has never visited the US, yet he has worked with a number of top international artists, such as Drake, Jamie xx, Pusha T, Giggs, Matoma, Wale, Gorillaz, and Davido.
Popcaan was advertised as the main attraction for the Atlanta Red Bull Culture Clash in 2017. The artist’s crew issued a statement the day before the performance claiming that his travel documents had not been finalized in time.
The performer, whose real name is Andrae Sutherland, was also a featured act on Burna Boy’s recent “Love Damini” tour’s Caribbean leg.
Following Popcaan’s tweet, some of his followers expressed sadness at not being able to meet him in person while others referred to traveling to the US as being “overrated.”
One follower suggested that Chicago should be your first trip after arriving.
Instead, other people have invited the artist to Kenya.
One reply read, “Come to Kenya first, you have been promising since 2012.”
