Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew has travelled overseas for specialised medical evaluation after being admitted to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital following symptoms of mild discomfort, nausea and a headache.
The 49-year-old prime minister was admitted on Sunday, August 30, where he remained under observation for approximately 18 hours. Doctors conducted diagnostic reviews and monitoring before recommending that he receive further specialist assessment abroad as a precaution.

The Cabinet Secretariat confirmed on September 1 that Drew arrived at an undisclosed medical facility overseas without incident and is accompanied by his family. The government has not identified the country or institution where he is receiving care.
Officials said Drew remains in stable condition, fully alert and in good spirits while undergoing diagnostic tests and specialist assessments. Doctors overseas have also consulted with the medical team at JNF General Hospital to review his records and coordinate his care.
The government has continued to reassure citizens that the country’s affairs are proceeding without interruption during the prime minister’s absence.
Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley has been assigned responsibility for ensuring the continued functioning of government while Drew remains overseas for medical observation.
The Cabinet has asked citizens and residents of St Kitts and Nevis to continue offering prayers and support for the prime minister as he undergoes further medical evaluation. Further updates are expected as information becomes available.
