Students seeking careers in entertainment, music and the wider creative industries still have an opportunity to apply for the Vincent and Patricia VP Foundation ECEM Scholarship at The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus.
The scholarship is offered through the Vincent and Patricia VP Foundation in partnership with the Institute of Caribbean Studies in UWI Mona’s Faculty of Humanities and Education. It supports students pursuing the Bachelor of Arts in Entertainment and Cultural Enterprise Management (ECEM).

Successful recipients will receive tuition assistance and gain practical industry experience through a final-year internship at VP Records’ Jamaica branch. The placement is intended to give students firsthand exposure to the operations of the international music business.
The programme is aimed at students who demonstrate academic potential, leadership ability and a strong interest in contributing to the development of the Caribbean’s entertainment, creative and cultural sectors.
The initiative also reflects the growing importance of formal education and professional training in an industry that extends beyond performing to areas such as music management, event production, marketing, entrepreneurship and cultural enterprise.
Patricia “Miss Pat” Chin, chairwoman of the Vincent and Patricia VP Foundation and co-founder of VP Records, said the scholarship is designed to help nurture the next generation of creative-sector leaders and encourage young people who will contribute to the region’s artistic and cultural development.
The partnership between the foundation and UWI provides students with both academic support and an opportunity to gain practical experience within one of the Caribbean’s best-known music companies, creating a pathway from university study into the professional creative industry.
