Caribbean carnival sensation Mahel Montano, who is well recognized for helping spread Soca music worldwide, just earned a master’s degree in Carnival Studies.
At the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT), the “Like Ah Boss” singer just finished the coursework needed for a postgraduate degree. For almost ten years, the course has been offered on campus. Students might investigate the historical facets of the carnival phenomenon, its significance for local identity, and the commercial and entrepreneurial components of carnival and associated events.

Alongside Brazil, Spain, and Louisiana’s Mardi Gras, Trinidad boasts one of the world’s most celebrated carnival offerings. Montano had stepped away from some carnival-related activities for the previous three years or so, but he has already warned that he will return for an incredible array of events on Carnival Monday in February 2025.
