Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, will visit Trinidad and Tobago on November 25 for high-level talks with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, the U.S. Embassy announced on November 24.
According to the embassy’s release, the visit will center on the countries’ strong bilateral partnership, with discussions expected to advance regional stability, deepen security cooperation, and reinforce joint efforts to combat illicit trafficking and transnational criminal organizations—issues considered critical to Caribbean and hemispheric security.

General Caine’s trip comes shortly after back-to-back engagements involving the U.S. 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, which conducted military exercises with the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force from October 26–30 and again from November 16–21. These drills reflect expanded operational coordination between the two nations’ armed forces.
Caine, the 22nd Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is the United States’ highest-ranking military officer and serves as the principal military advisor to the President, the Secretary of War, and the National Security Council.
Over his distinguished career, he has held a wide array of operational, staff, and joint assignments—including roles as an F-16 fighter pilot, weapons officer, special operations officer, and member of the White House staff—bringing extensive strategic and operational experience to his engagements in the region.
