President Ali said the holiday season marks an especially active and celebratory period for Guyana, highlighting several initiatives and events planned throughout December. He pointed to the extensive Christmas decorations in Georgetown, describing Main Street as one of the most beautifully lit avenues in the Caribbean and Latin America.
Beyond the festivities, the president encouraged reflection on the work ahead, emphasizing that human development remains central to his administration’s agenda. He announced plans for a livestreamed Christmas address to outline the government’s strategy for people-centered development, stressing that uplifting citizens at home and abroad remains a priority.
President Ali also revealed that his government will soon announce major initiatives aimed at the diaspora. He said these programs will allow Guyanese abroad to invest directly in national development projects, offering fixed and guaranteed rates of return.
Extending warm wishes for the season, President Ali encouraged the community to focus on unity, family, and shared responsibility in building a better future. He expressed optimism about the next five years, describing them as a period of intense and purposeful work to advance the country.
During his visit, the president also joined members of the Ex Guyana Defence Force Association of New York for a game of dominoes, where he paid tribute to the late basketball coach Bernard Daniels. He described Daniels as a pioneer whose leadership and mentorship shaped generations of young athletes.
President Ali continued his walk through the diaspora by visiting additional community events and businesses, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to maintaining close ties with Guyanese nationals overseas.
