Guyana celebrated its 60th Independence Anniversary, the Diamond Jubilee, on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The nationwide “Homecoming” celebration, led by President Irfaan Ali, featured year-long festivities, including the region’s largest drone show, a grand flag-raising at Durban Park, and massive parades by the diaspora in locations like Queens, New York.
The massive Guyanese diaspora in New York celebrated with a flag-raising ceremony and cultural explosion at Queens Borough Hall alongside an official city council commemoration.
