“I am saddened and shocked by the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Affirmative Action at two higher ed institutions in our nation — thereby potentially threatening the admissions outcome for millions of our Black and Brown students. This is a catastrophic move with severe implications from a radical Supreme Court that is determined to undermine years of progress that has been made in the fight for equity and inclusion in our nation. Regardless of today`s decision, I will continue to work with my colleagues in government and advocates in ensuring our Black and Brown students in the Bronx, New York City and New York State continue to have access to a quality higher education without fear of being discriminated against on the basis of their identity. This fight is not over.”
