Attorney-at-law Debby-Ann Samuels was taken into police custody on Monday following a nearly two-hour standoff with officers in downtown Montego Bay, St. James.
Senior police officials and sources confirmed that Samuels’ arrest came five days after the Jamaica Constabulary Force issued a public bulletin naming her as a person of interest in an investigation being conducted by the Fraud Squad.

The police had appealed to members of the public for assistance in locating the attorney in connection with allegations surrounding a land transaction.
Up to midday Tuesday, no formal charges had been filed against Samuels.
According to a senior police official, she is expected to be transported to Kingston, where investigators will conduct a formal interview in the presence of her attorney.
Sources said Samuels was conducting personal business in downtown Montego Bay when she was spotted by two police officers on patrol.
The officers reportedly approached her and informed her that she was being taken into custody.
According to one source, Samuels then entered her vehicle and locked the doors, refusing to exit for approximately two hours.
“She ran into her car and locked up. For about two hours she stayed inside and would not open the door. It caused quite a scene,” the source said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
