New York, NY- The American Friends of Jamaica, Inc. (AFJ) is proud to announce that over J$1.5M was successfully raised for the Ride for Life campaign, supporting the vital work of the Jamaica Cancer Society (JSC). The funds will be formally presented at an official event at the end of October.
Tim Ralph’s wife, Tomeka, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and, despite her courageous fight, passed away in 2020. Since then, Tim has channeled his passion for athletics into charitable fundraising through long-distance running and cycling events, with this year’s recipient being the Jamaica Cancer Society.

The Ride for Life Initiative is a series of three endurance cycling events created through a partnership between AFJ, TR Sports and Adventure, and the JCS. The initiative seeks to raise critical funds and awareness for cancer in Jamaica, while honoring the memory of Tim’s late wife and her courageous battle against breast cancer. Two of the rides – Discover Jamaica By Bike and the MACC One Love Century (Atlanta, U.S.) – have been successfully completed. The remaining ride, Kingston to Negril, is scheduled for October 18-20, 2025 (Hero’s Weekend).
“The AFJ is proud to partner with TR Sports and Adventure and the Jamaica Cancer Society on Ride for Life, honoring Tomeka’s legacy while supporting vital cancer treatment in Jamaica,” said Caron Chung, Executive Director of the American Friends of Jamaica. “We are grateful to all our donors, especially Sandals and the Jamaica Tourist Board, whose generosity has made this achievement possible.”

The AFJ, TR Sports and Adventure, and JCS would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the generous donors who supported the Ride for Life campaign. We would also like to offer a special thank you to Sandals and the Jamaica Tourist Board for their extraordinary support and generosity, which have played a pivotal role in helping us reach this milestone.
