According to authorities, a US tourist perished in the Bahamas after a catamaran carrying over 100 passengers capsized on its way to a private island.
The 74-year-old woman, whose identity is unknown, was on a five-day holiday with her family when the catamaran sunk late on Tuesday morning, according to Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings, who spoke to The Associated Press.

The remaining passengers and crew members were saved. According to authorities, two more unnamed individuals were brought to a medical institution; however, it was not immediately clear what their circumstances were.
It was unclear at first how the 74-year-old lady passed away.
As they assisted in removing the passengers and crew members from the water, police stated in a statement that they discovered the lady to be unconscious. They added that after receiving CPR, she was brought to a dock and pronounced dead.
Authorities said that all on board were wearing the life vests that were available.
The double-deck catamaran, according to the police, started leaking water after leaving Paradise Island with a party of passengers en route to Blue Lagoon Island, a well-liked tourist spot northeast of Nassau’s capital.
Social media users shared a video of several passengers shouting as the catamaran started to lean to the right, causing people to slowly start diving into the sea and swim toward other boats.
According to the police, neighboring pleasure vessels and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force also assisted with the rescue.
Officials stated that the inquiry is still underway.
