A Florida woman has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly opening fire at the Los Angeles residence of international pop star Rihanna, authorities confirmed.
Prosecutors say Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, of Orlando, fired a semiautomatic rifle toward the singer’s mansion in Los Angeles at approximately 1:15 p.m. local time on Sunday.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, though officials say several people were inside the home and neighboring properties when the shots were fired.
Suspect Arrested After Fleeing Scene
Investigators allege Ortiz drove up to the residence, fired multiple rounds at the property, and then fled the scene. Authorities later located her white Tesla roughly eight miles away at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, where she was taken into custody.
Ortiz is currently being held on $1.875 million bail and faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted.
According to prosecutors, the suspect is facing several serious charges, including:
- Attempted murder
- Ten felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm
- Three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling
Authorities Condemn Violence
Nathan J. Hochman condemned the incident, describing the shooting as reckless and dangerous.
“Opening fire in any populated neighborhood is extremely dangerous, puts lives at risk and will be fully prosecuted,” Hochman said.
He emphasized that such acts of violence threaten entire communities and will be met with strong legal consequences.
Motive Under Investigation
Police are still working to determine what led to the shooting. According to investigators, Ortiz allegedly posted several messages on social media referencing Rihanna before the incident.
In one post on X, she reportedly wrote:
“Are you there? … say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.”
Authorities have not confirmed whether the posts were directly connected to the alleged attack.
Rihanna and Family at Home
Reports indicate that Rihanna and her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, were at the home at the time of the shooting.
The couple shares three children together. Rocky was recently in the news after being acquitted in February of charges related to allegedly firing a gun at a former friend.
Global Superstar
Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in Barbados, Rihanna rose to global fame in the mid-2000s with hit songs such as Pon de Replay and Umbrella.
She has since become one of the world’s most influential entertainers, balancing a music career with business ventures and philanthropy.
Police say the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
