A Florida woman accused of opening fire on Rihanna’s Los Angeles home has been indicted on 14 felony counts, including attempted murder, after prosecutors alleged that she fired a semiautomatic rifle at the property while the singer, her partner and their children were inside.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 36, of Orlando, Florida, was indicted by a Los Angeles grand jury on one count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with an assault weapon and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The indictment was returned June 18 and unsealed September 30.

The charges stem from a March 8 shooting at Rihanna’s Beverly Crest home. Prosecutors allege that Ortiz drove to the property at about 1:20 p.m. and fired an assault weapon multiple times at the house. Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their children and other people were on the property or in an adjacent home at the time. No one was injured.
According to court and law-enforcement accounts, gunfire struck an Airstream trailer where Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were present, as well as the exterior of a nursery where their children and a nanny were located. Prosecutors have alleged that at least 20 rounds were fired during the incident.
Ortiz was arrested later in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles. She previously pleaded not guilty to the charges and was recently found competent to stand trial following months of psychiatric evaluations. Her bail was set at US$2.65 million, and she is scheduled to return to court October 29 for a pretrial hearing.
The indictment was obtained through a grand jury while Ortiz was undergoing the competency proceedings. Prosecutors have also pointed to social media posts allegedly referencing Rihanna, although a motive has not been publicly established.
If convicted as charged, Ortiz faces up to life in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.
