The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that it is still accepting asylum petitions at the US-Mexico border and permits travel for select Haitian, Cuban, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan individuals under the Conditional Stay Program.
DHS expressed in a recent interview with the press, “We have not made any changes to the CBP One process or the parole program for Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela in recent months […] We continue to schedule appointments through CBP One; these are generally scheduled 21 days in advance.”

It is important to remember that Donald Trump declared throughout his campaign that he intended to shut down the CBP One service. Immigration experts anticipate changes to the conditional stay program; however, it is unclear which programs Trump intends to discontinue.
According to DHS data, 531,670 individuals had lawfully entered the United States under the Conditional Stay Program as of November 2024 (211,040 Haitians, 117,320 Venezuelans, 110,240 Cubans, and 93,080 Nicaraguans).
