Legendary Jamaican dancehall performer Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer has not been invited to the One Caribbean Music Festival for the carnival next year.
TV6 interviewed Kartel about a recent performance during the introduction of his STR8 VYBZ rum at Angostura Solera Wines and Spirit, located on Victoria Avenue in Port of Spain.

Kartel stated, “No comment.” But when asked, he stated, “I cannot speak about the show because now I am just here promoting the Angostura, Vybz Kartel collaboration, no disrespect.”
When asked again, he repeated “no comment”, saying, “You are a very determined interviewer, and I am a very determined interviewee.”
When it was announced in November that Kartel will be the main act at a T&T Carnival Friday event on February 28, 2025, a contentious controversy broke out nationwide. Carnival Friday, which historically features important local showcases like the International Soca Monarch, is a highly esteemed day on the national calendar.
