Dancehall phenomenon from the island of Jamaica, Vybz Kartel, has declared that he currently resides in Florida, USA. During a visit to New York, April 11, 2025, he revealed the information while appearing on The Breakfast Club with hosts Charlamagne Tha God and DJ Envy.
When Charlamagne Tha God questioned Kartel if he felt secure in Jamaica, Kartel said, “Of course not.”

When questioned if he was primarily residing in Jamaica, he responded, “I live here [in the United States], I live in Florida.”
Kartel responded “no” when asked if he was uncomfortable remaining in Jamaica because of the Jamaican government or the people.
“I spent 13 years in prison, like seriously, that’s not a joke. I need to go out now and I’m working. Florida is good because it’s a hub, you can go to New York, you can go across the Atlantic, England, go west, you’re in LA. It’s a nice place to be geographically, where we can just move,” he shared.
Kartel declared that he will not return to the parts of Jamaica that he used to visit.
He stated, “I am just staying out of trouble. I don’t want to be in nothing negative, never. So we stay away from that.”
On July 31 of last year, Kartel was released from jail after serving 13 years for the murder of his companion Clive “Lizard” Williams.
The United Kingdom Privy Council reversed his conviction, citing jury misconduct. The Jamaican Court of Appeal affirmed that ruling.
