VP Records will celebrate Record Store Day on Saturday, April 12, with an event at its flagship store in Queens, NY. The festivities include a live sound system showcase, a signing with Sister Nancy, exclusive vinyl releases, and a pay-per-view livestream.
The Event
VP Records’ flagship store at 170-19 Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica, Queens will host an outdoor sound system session from 12 to 5 p.m. Chin of Sound Chat Radio will emcee the event, which features sets from King Jammy’s (Kingston, Jamaica), King Addies featuring Danny Dread (Brooklyn, NY), and King Turbo (Toronto, Canada). Nexxt Level provides sound and opens the day alongside Kulcha Kartel.

Sister Nancy will appear for an in-store signing from 2 to 5 p.m., celebrating the reissue of her 1982 debut album OneTwo, which features her iconic track “Bam Bam.” The Record Store Day exclusive comes on blue vinyl with a four-color inner sleeve, sticker sheet, and liner notes from John Masouri. It marks the first time the album has been re-pressed since 1982.
The event is free and open to the public. For those not attending in person, Rddm Media will offer a live pay-per-view stream. The broadcast begins at 12 p.m. and costs $19.99 in advance, $24.99 on the day of.
