US law enforcement is investigating armed men who have been conducting surveillance around the home of Mr. Rickford Burke, President of the Caribbean Guyana Institute for Democracy (CGID). Security camera footage captured the men video recording and taking photographs of Mr. Burke’s home and his vehicles’ license plates.
Mr. Burke arrived home around 3:00 am a few nights ago and noticed a tall Black male standing across the street from his house behind a tree with a telephone held up in his hand; either taking photographs or video recording Mr. Burke’s home.

When Mr. Burke turned on his high beam lights to identify the individual, the person rushed off into a waiting, getaway vehicle, which sped away. Security was with Mr. Burke in another vehicle. They gave chase and were able to record the vehicle’s information, which was turned over to law enforcement. It has now been confirmed that said individuals in that car who were stalking Mr. Burke, work for the PPP government of Guyana.
Moreover, neighbors have confirmed to Police that they noticed the same individual, along with other persons associated with the Guyana Consulate in New York, brandishing guns while conducting surveillance of Mr. Burke’s home.
CGID has dispatched letters to the White House and State Department calling for an investigation and sanctions against the PPP government. Guyana’s Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo is locked in a war of words with Mr. Burke, over allegations that the East Indian-led PPP government practices anti-black racism against the African Guyanese population in Guyana.
Guyana’s Attorney General Anil Nandlall is currently under investigation by US law enforcement for allegedly calling for Mr. Burke to be killed while addressing a private meeting in New York. In retaliation, persons in the PPP government directed the Guyana Police Force to fabricate and institute false cybercrime charges against Mr. Burke. Mr. Burke migrated to the US when he was a teenager in 1992. He has not traveled to Guyana since 1998.
Mr. Burke is a law-abiding citizen, who has never been arrested and has no criminal record. He is an outstanding Caribbean-American leader in the US. It is preposterous for the PPP government to allege that Mr. Burke allegedly committed a crime in New York, which they are maliciously seeking to prosecute in Guyana. Effectively what they are seeking to do is to get the US government to participate in their murder plot by extraditing Mr. Burke to Guyana for fabricated cybercrimes, which he allegedly committed in New York, because he has been condemning and exposing their racism.
Nandlall, who is under US investigation for plotting to have Mr. Burke killed, then wrote to the US Department of Justice requesting that Mr. Burke be arrested for magically committing crimes in Guyana from New York. The US Government rejected this request and admonished the Guyana government that its actions violated Mr. Burke’s constitutional rights.
The PPP government’s resort to violence in the US is a direct result of Mr. Burke’s and CGID’s fierce criticism of their racism and corruption, as well as their treasonous policies, and actions on the Guyana-Venezuela border controversy.
The PPP government has been desperately and maliciously trying to smear Mr. Burke as a “criminal” and has been abusing the Police force and criminal justice system to issue Police Wanted Bulletins for him whenever he advocates against him or their supporters. This elicited a stern warning from New York State Attorney General, Hon. Letitia James, that members of the PPP government would be held accountable if Mr. Burke is harmed.
However, in a demonstration of contempt, Jagdeo at a press conference in September 2023, threatened to bring down US politicians, including democratic Members of the US Congress, who support Mr. Burke’s advocacy. It is therefore obvious that the PPP government is picking a fight with African American Members of Congress.
This is happening against a backdrop of the PPP government begging the Biden Administration to send US troops to Guyana to fight Venezuela which is threatening to invade Guyana.
The racist PPP government of Guyana continues to harass Mr. Burke to silence him. They are wasting time. Mr. Burke is undeterred. Mr. Burke and CGID will continue to expose the racism, corruption, and injustice that characterize the PPP governance of Guyana.
We are determined to bring an end to the PPP’s war against African Guyanese citizens in and out of Guyana. The PPP cabal is known for assaulting, jailing, and killing journalists and opposition political activists. Should this murderous regime attempt to assassinate any member of CGID, justice will be swift and unprecedented.
Venezuela has virtually declared war on Guyana. Instead of focusing on keeping the Guyanese nation safe and defending Guyana from Venezuelan aggression, the apartheid PPP government is busy fighting a war with and abusing the powers of the Guyana Police Force to criminalize, African Guyanese who condemn their rank racism.
CGID warns the racists in the PPP government, and their agents in the Guyana Police Force, that there will be serious consequences for their escalation of armed violence, aggression, and transnational repression crimes against Mr. Burke and CGID.
