The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has accused Roger St. Rose, the head of the Trinidad and Tobago Hockey Board, of two charges of sexual penetration of a minor under the age of sixteen.
The 66-year-old is charged with carrying out the illegal act for three years beginning in 2021.

According to the media, the same victim—a 38-year-old businessman—was also accused of sexually penetrating a youngster. Police have not released the man’s identity, fearing that the victim may be indirectly identified. The businessman is accused of doing the activities, beginning at the beginning of this year.
In response to the accusations made against St. Rose, TTPS Communications Manager Joanne Archie stated, “The incident alleged occurred on a date unknown during the period 30-11-2021 and a date unknowing during the period 30-11-2022 to 1-1-2023. He appeared at the 7th Port-of-Spain Magistrate Court before Her Worship Magistrate Baboolal-Gafoor.”
The accused’s Diego Martin residence is where the incident(s) are said to have taken place.
St. Rose was released on bond with a $250,000 surety and a $25,000 cash option. The case was postponed until February 6, 2024.
The Hockey Board sent notice to its members and member clubs earlier this week informing them that St. Rose had taken a leave of absence.
Reyah Richardson, a board member, sent out a notice stating that John Lewis, the first vice president of TTHB, will serve as president in his absence.
Promoting, growing, and managing field hockey at all levels falls within the purview of the T&T Hockey Board.
During the 24th Annual Council Meeting (ACM) of the TTHB in November 2021, St Rose—who represented Malvern Sports Club—was chosen as the organization’s new president. He took over as the board’s chairman from Douglas Camacho.
St. Rose has a prestigious history of judging hockey games. He officiated at the 1996 Olympics, the Champions League, and the International Hockey Federation World Cup as the first umpire from Trinidad and Tobago.
