Following the announcement over the weekend that Mileidy Materano was the choice to represent T&T at the pageant, and not a T&T national, social media uproar was swift.
The now-deleted post in question described Materano’s crowning as “an embarrassment to our pageant industry and our nation”. It also complained that the model allegedly has an OnlyFans account, featuring sexually explicit content.

The Venezuelan national, who’s reportedly been living in the country for the past five years, rose to prominence recently for promoting the Barbie movie.
The Miss World Franchise Director was prompted to make a statement after a Miss Trinidad and Tobago fan page called for an investigation into the Miss Grand franchise holders over their selection of a non-national to represent the country at the competition in Vietnam next month.
However, Director Charu Lochan Dass has made it clear that the organization has not expressed any position on the selection of a Venezuelan national to represent the country at the upcoming Miss Grand International Pageant.
It would be worthy to note that Dass herself is not Trinidadian herself, she is Indian-born.
Dass said the Miss World franchise isn’t affiliated with the @misstrinidadandtobago page and the organization is unaware of who runs it.
The franchise’s official Facebook page is @missworldtrinidadandtobago. She described it as a fanpage that has supported us by sharing our content as they are an avid supporter of Miss World and they are thankful for the support. However any statements made on or by that page is not on their behalf.
