The 54 Trinidadian, served as the managing director of Rio Claro-based Worldwide Inspection Technologies and Industrial Services. It is a company that offers inspection and non-destructive testing services to the energy sector.
Around 4:30 p.m., Ramsaran and his colleague Rishi Joseph, a 44-year-old business entrepreneur, arrived at Joseph’s St. Helena residence. Joseph was shot and murdered at the scene.
Ramsaran’s wife told the media in a brief telephone call that she didn’t understand why anyone would wish her husband dead.
She said that Ramsaran had left Joseph in charge of his black Toyota Prado while he traveled to Guyana. When Ramsaran came back to his home country, Joseph utilized the Prado to pick him up at the airport.
She noted, “The plan was that after Rishi picked him up at the airport, Kris would drop Rishi back home in St. Helena and then come home in Rio Claro but he never reached Rio Claro.”
While attempting to comprehend why her husband was targeted, Singh-Jalim explained that this was all she understood about what had happened.
She claimed, “I do not know what to say. He was a real genuine person and I do not know who would want to do this. We do not have any children, but it is like these criminals really do not have a heart and do not care about people and their families.”
Several individuals voiced their outrage and shock at Ramsaran’s loss on social media, especially in light of the circumstances surrounding his death.
Senior attorney Larry Lalla was one among them. He wrote: “While we exchange jokes about last evening’s cricket (TKR vs Guyana Amazon Warriors), I’m pulled back to the reality of our abysmal existence under our present ineffective PM, Minister of National Security and Commissioner of Police.
“Kris Ramsaran was apparently shot and killed in cold blood yesterday (Sunday) at St Helena. He was a businessman who worked in the energy sector and was a client and friend of mine. I knew him to be a man with a big heart who placed the interests of his family and his workers above his own.
“May he travel well, away from this hellhole in which we are presently forced to exist. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, and employees.”
Joseph, a father of three boys aged 23, 18, and 12, according to a relative who requested to remain anonymous, was not the intended victim.
The relative went on to say, “He collect one shot and his friend got 16, so you can do the math there and see what is what.”
He further clarified that the incident happened right after Joseph and Ramsaran arrived home from the airport. The assassins killed people, then drove away and fled.
Ramsaran was shot while he was in the Prado’s driver’s seat, and Joseph was shot in the head as he got out.
Joseph was interested in buying and customizing automobiles before reselling them, according to the relative. Additionally, he owned a few apartments that he rented out to renters.
The relative claimed, “He would buy one or two cars, fix them up and then sell. It is not to say he have a set of cars selling at one time. It is a small little garage. He did just enough to live. It was one car at a time he was flipping. He living off the rent of the apartments.”
He refuted claims made on social media that the deaths took place as a result of Joseph’s refusal to pay a “tax” to local criminal groups.
“We do not know anything about that because if that was happening he would have told his family,” he said.
The relative debated why Ramsaran was shot 16 times when Joseph, who was the target, was shot just once, “He was already outside the vehicle. If it was really for him they would have got him and get out. They would not have had to come out of their car. They made sure to spray down the car, come out, and then let go it on the man.”
No one has been detained thus far in connection with the killing of Ramsaran and Joseph.
