On December 18, Donald Trump appointed Herschel Walker, a great running back, as the next American ambassador to the Bahamas.
The president-elect recently made the statement, referring to Walker as “a successful businessman, philanthropist, and former Heisman Trophy winner.”

The 62-year-old Republican Walker made a failed 2022 bid for the U.S. Senate in Georgia, where he became well-known as a Bulldog from 1980 to 1982.
The Senate, which Republicans control, will need to ratify Walker’s appointment next year.
Walker co-chaired the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition during Trump’s first term in office.
Walker has been friends with the president-elect since he was a player for the USFL’s Trump-owned New Jersey Generals from 1983 to 1985.
