St. Croix, a U.S. Virgin Island, is where President Joe Biden and his family are spending their last vacation before departing the White House. The gang has spent the New Year’s holiday there for the third year in a row with this most recent visit. They had reportedly previously stayed at the home of a rich contributor. Biden made it clear in 2023 that he hoped “to come back next year.”
December 26, 2024, marked the arrival of the head of state and his family to the island. The president notably avoided speaking to reporters before his departure. He and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden are anticipated to spend the majority of their time at the 41,000-person Caribbean retreat out of the public eye, as is traditional. Although this is his last vacation as head of the free world, he will meet with Pope Francis in January in Rome, Italy, before his formal farewell.

Biden had a rather busy month in December. According to an update earlier this month, he granted mercy to more than 1,500 offenders, including Terry “Southwest Tee” Flenory, a drug lord from the Black Mafia Family, and his son Hunter. He commuted 37 of 40 federal death row convicts’ sentences just before Christmas, changing their penalty to life in prison without the chance of release.
Biden provided an explanation for his choice, “These commutations are consistent with the moratorium my administration has imposed on federal executions in cases other than terrorism and hate-motivated mass murder.”
According to a media source, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the president is concentrating on securing important legislative accomplishments in his last days, such as the CHIPS and Science Act, the bipartisan infrastructure package, and initiatives to lower the cost of prescription drugs.
Jean-Pierre remarked, “That’s our focus.” Adding, “That’s what we’ve been doing. And we’re going to continue, certainly, to do that.”
