Emmy Award-winning actress Sheryl Lee Ralph is preparing to release her latest book, You Better Love What You See, a personal and motivational work centered on self-worth, resilience, and overcoming self-doubt.
The book, published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, is scheduled for release on April 6, 2027, and is now available for pre-order. Ralph announced the project earlier this week, describing it as a guide for people who question whether they are enough, want to lead with love, and are working through self-doubt.

Drawing from her life and career, Ralph reflects on experiences ranging from her childhood and family life to her decades in entertainment. She writes about being the only girl of color at her Catholic school, facing discrimination in the entertainment industry, and reaching career milestones including her historic 2022 Emmy Award win.
The book’s title comes from Ralph’s widely remembered acceptance speech at the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards, when she encouraged viewers to value themselves regardless of whether they receive approval or recognition from others.
Ralph has also shared her experiences and life lessons with Jamaican audiences. She appeared at the 2025 Calabash International Literary Festival in Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth, where she discussed her journey and her earlier book, Diva 2.0: 12 Life Lessons From Me For You, in a conversation with Jamaican Poet Laureate Kwame Dawes.
Calabash co-founder Justine Henzell said Ralph’s openness about the challenges she has encountered has helped make her message resonate with audiences. Henzell also praised the actress for balancing her international success with humility and generosity toward fans.
You Better Love What You See follows Ralph’s previous books and expands on themes of confidence, determination, faith, and personal growth. Ralph told PEOPLE that she hopes the book will remind readers that their stories are still unfolding and that it is never too late to become more of who they were meant to be.
