The 93 “most stylish” individuals of 2022 have been picked by the New York Times’ style department. On the list are both actual persons and fictitious figures from movies and television shows. Three of these fashionable people have Caribbean ancestry: Sheryl Lee Ralph, a Jamaican American whose mother is Jamaican; Rihanna, who is from Barbados; and Lewis Hamilton, who is Grenadian.
Sheryl Lee Ralph is an actress and singer who was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. Her mother, Ivy Ralph, is a Jamaican fashion designer who designed the “kariba” suit, while her father is a college lecturer. She made her acting debut in 1977’s “A Piece of the Action,” but in 1981, when she played “Deena Jones” in “Dreamgirls,” she became a sensation and won a Tony Award. She was the first Black woman to receive the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series prize in 35 years when she took home the honor at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards for her role as “Barbara Howard” in the ABC comedy “Abbot Elementary.”

Not only did Ralph wow the audience with her rendition of “Endanger Species” but graced fortunate eyes with a stunning sight as diamond studs add sparks to the actress’s braided ponytail.
