The Trending artist made her debut in 2026 with “Jiggle Jiggle” and continues to deliver hits after hits keeping her “Shenyeng” army on their toes.
Shenyeng Anthem, which was produced by Chimney Records on the Rice Grain riddim, highlights Shenseea’s opposition to drama and disrespect while celebrating self-assurance, confidence, and an optimistic mindset. Other songs on the riddim were Govana’s Hot Topic, Teejay’s Home, Jahmiel’s Level Up, Ding Dong and Konshens’ Dream Weekend, and Alkaline’s Pick Unuh Side.
Shenseea discussed her confidence when recording the song in a 2021 interview with Taste Radio stating, “I love producing music, I won’t put it out if I’m not comfortable with it, but most of my hits, I see them coming. ShenYeng Anthem, I knew that was gonna hit.”
The “Waistline” artiste continued, “It’s a good amount of them that I just said yo, this song is gonna hit, Good Comfort, Trending Gyal.”
Since then, the song has grown to symbolize Shenseea’s “Shenyeng” identity and has become an iconic piece of music. The expression, which also refers to her fan base, was reportedly first used by her colleague Ding Dong.
“When I just came out and I went with Shenseea, he just came out with Yeng Yeng, the dance with the bikes. So, he was like ‘ShenYeng’ and I said, ‘Why are you merging my name with your song?’… He was like, ‘You shoulda went with the name ShenYeng, you talking bout Shenseea. Shenseea ain’t it, you need to go with ShenYeng’. I said that, you know, it is a pretty cool name,” she explained in regards to the origin of the name.
Shenseea celebrated the song’s debut and her devoted fan base by designating May 20 as “Shenyeng Day” in 2020, further embracing her individuality.
Additionally, the moniker has developed into an alter identity, as Shenseea told KISS Fresh: “When you see me deejaying and rapping, doing my freestyles, that’s ShenYeng to me. When you hear Good Comfort, that’s Shenseea. When you hear ShenYeng Anthem, that’s ShenYeng. When you hear Love I Got For You, Shenseea.”
On Spotify, Shenyeng Anthem has had over 60 million streams. Even though it was a commercial hit, there was criticism around the song. When the music video was released, it was accused of cultural appropriation; as of right now, it has 13 million views on YouTube.
As stated in a 2018 Star article, “Despite being of Korean descent, viewers pointed out that Shenseea was in no position to represent Asian people as she does not identify with that culture.”
The report continued: “Some viewers said that everything from the accent, to the style of dress, to make-up used in the video was a disrespect to the Asian culture. Others suggested that Shenseea needs to be educated a little bit more on the different Asian societies because she dressed like a Chinese but spoke Japanese in the video’s intro.”
Shenseea has gained recognition for her work with rappers Kanye West on Pure Souls (500,000 units) in the US and Tyga on Blessed (40,000 units) in Canada, in addition to her UK Silver certification.
