The goal of Jamaican superstar Seneea is to win a Grammy Award, which is among the greatest accolades in music. During an interview with American influencer Bobbi Althoff on “The Really Good Podcast,” the Blessed singer recently discussed her goals.
Shenseea clarified the importance of the Grammy to her, “I think I have to get a Grammy because it has been a childhood dream for me.”

The “ShenYeng” singer continued, “You know, just growing up— watching MTV, VH1, BET all of that and seeing the award shows, I think from a longer time I was like, ‘I have to get one of those when I get older.’ It’s not even that I’m materialistic; it’s just a dream to have one. I’ve achieved almost everything that I wanted to in my life, in my career thus far.”
Beyond winning a Grammy, the musician has other ambitions. “So, Grammy is up next, I’d like to have a diamond record too.”
She continued, adding that she also wanted to go on a stadium tour.
One of the 75 albums that have been nominated for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards’ “Best Reggae Album” category is Shenseea’s sophomore album, Never Gets Late Here.
Many of her singles have also been nominated for awards in several categories. For example, Flava, featuring rapper Coi Leray, has been nominated three times, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Melodic Rap Performance; Work Me Out, featuring Wizkid, has been nominated for Best African Music Performance; and her rendition of Bob Marley’s No Woman, No Cry, featured on the Bob Marley: One Love – Music Inspired by the Film album, has been nominated for a further three awards: Outstanding Global Music Performance. The Marley estate selected the record, which is competing for the title of “Best Reggae Album.”
November 8 is when the nominees will be released, with first-round voting ending on October 15.
The two contributions Shenseea made to Kanye West’s album Donda, which was nominated for 2022’s “Album of the Year,” earned her a prior Grammy nomination.
The singer is already taking steps to realize her aim of a diamond record. Her recent UK Silver certification for Shenyeng Anthem came from her contribution to Kanye West’s Pure Souls, which received Gold certification in the US. In Canada, Blessed is presently certified Gold as well.
During the interview with Althoff, Shenseea also touched on some personal matters, revealing that she is from a family of long-lasting marriages and hopes to tie the knot when she is around 35 (for context, she’s 28).
She emphasized the importance of a lengthy courtship, stating she would need to be with someone for a decade before marriage—five years dating and five years engaged. Her rationale was that she didn’t want a repeat of the failed relationship she had with her child’s father.
“If I don’t find that person— even though I don’t think you can ever find that perfect person to have kids with because people change after you give birth— I know from experience. Like, my child’s father and I, we were really close, like twins, until we had a kid… it went opposite,” she said.
She also said she is not in a committed relationship and is currently “having fun, especially because the last two years were so difficult.”
