British band Gorillaz’s gold-certified album Humanz includes performances by dancehall artist Popcaan and Jamaican actress, singer, and supermodel Grace Jones.
Humanz recently received a gold certification in France for sales that exceeded 50,000 copies. The National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (SNEP), awarded the certification.

Prior to this, the album had gold certifications from Canada (40,000 copies sold), Poland (50,000 units sold), and the UK (100,00 units sold). Over 500,000 pieces have been sold globally.
Popcaan discussed Humanz’s accomplishments in an interview with the Jamaica Observer.
The “Ova Dweet” hit artiste stated, “It’s a great feeling to see the accomplishments. I do what I do for the love of music first… that level of success just increases the energy to continue to do it. As for what I think it does for me and the dancehall: This is for all the people who think you have to change who you are as a Jamaican or as a dancehall artiste for great things to happen. We just give God thanks and keep working hard, that’s all.”
The song Saturnz Barz, on which he appears, reached its highest position of #5 on Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs chart and #87 on the UK Singles chart in 2017.
Jones appears in the song titled Charger.
On Humanz, other performers include Rag’n Bone Man, De La Soul, pop singer Carly Simon, rhythm and blues artists Anthony Hamilton and Mavis Staples, and Rag’n Bone Man.
In addition to Gee Jam Studio in Portland, Jamaica, the album was partially recorded in New York City, London, and Paris. Additionally, it received a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album at the 60th Grammy Awards.
In its first week of release, Humanz fared well financially. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 albums list with 140,000 copies sold. In the UK, it debuted at number two, and it reached the top 10 in 21 additional nations.
