Following their divisive and discriminatory comments regarding Haitian immigrants, JD Vance and Donald Trump were charged with crimes by the nonprofit Haitian Bridge Alliance, which “provides migrants and immigrants with humanitarian, legal, and social services.” The discourse has resulted in over thirty bomb threats, mandatory evacuations of government and educational facilities, and acts of violence directed at the Haitian community residing in Springfield, Ohio.
Following false claims that Haitian immigrants in Springfield were robbing and devouring their neighbors’ pets, the Republican presidential candidate and his running partner filed the lawsuit. In addition to two counts of telecommunications harassment, aggravated threats, false alarms, interference with public services, and cooperation are among the allegations. The public can submit criminal charges in Ohio in the same manner as a prosecutor. In this instance, the Haitian Bridge Alliance is requesting that the Clark County Municipal Court uphold the existence of reasonable suspicion that Vance and Trump committed the offenses and issue arrest warrants for both.

The affidavit states, “Trump and Vance have knowingly spread a false and dangerous narrative by claiming that Springfield, Ohio’s Haitian community is criminally killing and eating neighbors’ dogs and cats and killing and eating geese.”
It further mentioned, “They accused Springfield’s Haitians of bearing deadly disease. They repeated such lies during the presidential debate, at campaign rallies, during interviews on national television, and on social media.”
Even after the claims were shown to be untrue, Trump persisted in making them, and Vance recently said that he was prepared to “create stories” to further his political agenda.
They persisted in spreading the false narrative that Haitians in Springfield pose a threat, according to the document, which describes it as an “orchestrated… campaign of lies.”
“Many public institutions have been forced to evacuate, and vital local resources were diverted to investigate the barrage of threats to the community,” it notes.
Local prosecutors have not moved to pursue charges although Trump and Vance’s allegations are well known. However, a prosecuting attorney will have to decide in public because the criminal accusations were brought by citizens.
Both US Senators Trump and Vance of Ohio have hinted that they would visit Springfield. Before they arrive, the filing requests that the court provide a ruling.
The affidavit states, “This should be done before Trump fulfills his threat to visit Springfield – despite Mayor Rob Rue’s request that he not do so – so that he may be arrested upon arrival for his criminal acts.”
