On October 28, 2024, Rachel Scott, a fashion designer from Jamaica who owns the New York-based brand Diotima, took home the American Womenswear Designer of the Year award at the 2024 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards.
Before Marc Jacobs, Jack McCollough, and Lazaro Hernandez, who were all nominees and stalwarts of the business, Scott took home the prized honor for Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne, and Tory Burch.

Cynthia Erivo, an Academy Award-nominated actress and composer, known for her lead role in the movie “Harriot” and her undeniable talent for the musical arts has hosted the cocktail party, dinner, and awards presentation at the American Museum of Natural History.
According to Yahoo, Scott has amassed a devoted fan base since the beginning of Diotima because of her genuine, inclusive, and sophisticated interpretation of Caribbean fashion through knit dressing, tailoring, and sportswear with handcrafted, artisanal details, which are worn by celebrities like Aurora James, Ayesha Curry, and Angel Reese.
She just launched her womenswear brand three years ago, and last year she supposedly received the Shop with Google American Emerging Designer of the Year honor at the CFDA Awards.
