KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dr. Gabrielle Henry, Jamaica’s representative to the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) one week after suffering a serious fall during the evening gown preliminary competition in Thailand.
According to the latest medical update, doctors have advised that Henry will need to remain in the ICU for at least seven days as specialists continue close monitoring and provide targeted neurological care.

Her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, who is currently in Thailand with their mother, Maureen Henry, shared that the situation remains worrying.
“Gabby isn’t doing as well as we would have hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her accordingly,” Dr. Henry-Samuels said.
In a statement, the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation expressed deep concern and renewed its call for widespread support. The organization is “earnestly calling on Jamaicans at home and across the Diaspora to continue keeping Gabrielle in their prayers.” They also urged supporters worldwide to lift her up “in love, strength, and hope.”
The organization appealed to the public, particularly social media users, to refrain from sharing negative comments, misinformation, or insensitive speculation, warning that such posts could further distress Henry’s family.
“Our primary focus remains on Gabrielle’s recovery and the well-being of her loved ones,” the statement said. The organisation also requested continued compassion, sensitivity, and privacy as the family faces this difficult period.
Dr. Henry sustained a serious head injury after falling from the stage, leading to her immediate withdrawal from the competition and urgent medical intervention.
