The American-owned boarding school in Jamaica, which was closed due to accusations of child abuse, is where a Christian couple from the United States is alleged to have left their adopted Haitian son.
US media outlets claim that after their 17-year-old adopted son reportedly showed signs of behavioral problems, such as running away and accessing porn, Mark and Spring Goldman of Michigan sent him to Atlantis Leadership Academy, a school for disturbed youths in St Elizabeth.

Early in 2024, the school was closed due to claims of mistreatment, including suspected beatings and waterboarding. However, according to reports, the Goldmans neglected to pick up their son, who had been left stuck in Jamaica for eight months, while other worried parents arrived to pick up their kids.
“I appreciate them for bringing me to the US, but they abandoned me,” the Detroit Free Press was informed by the youngster, who the Goldmans had adopted at the age of ten.
“I’m staying strong, but it hurts.”
Before being flown back to the United States by officials on September 3, he was allegedly residing in children’s homes in Jamaica.
Since then, the teenager has been removed into the custody of US Child Protective Services; according to reports, his adoptive parents have not objected to this.
He will now be living with a foster parent, a retired teacher who went by the name “Teri,” who volunteered to take him in on September 11, 2024.
According to reports, the woman spoke in court before hugging the youngster, “It’s just the right thing to do.”
