The Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album was given to singjay Kabaka Pyramid’s 15-track album THE Kalling on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
It was mostly produced by Damian “Jr Gong” Marley and released on September 30 through Bebble Rock Music/Ghetto Youths International. Sean “Young Pow” Diederick collaborated in the production of seven of the songs.

On the Billboard Reggae Albums list, The Kalling peaked at number 13 in October of the previous year. It features joint efforts with Buju Banton, Jesse Royal, Tifa, Protoje, and Jemere Morgan.
Kabaka Pyramid gave a speech in which he expressed gratitude to his parents, other candidates, and his management team.
“Mi caan believe it. Rastafari live! Just want to say thank you to the Academy [NARAS], thank you to all the other nominees who represent Jamaica, who represent the Caribbean. Thank you to everybody supporting reggae music, and conscious music. Much love to Damian Marley who produced the album. Stephen Marley, this one is for Jo Mersa Marley who we lost in December and Taiwo McKenzie,” expressed Kabaka.
The other contenders for Best Reggae Album were Gifted by Koffee, Com Fly Wid Mi by Shaggy, Third Time’s The Charm by Protoje, and Scorcha by Sean Paul.
Kabaka Pyramid, who is associated with Bebble Rock Music, is really Keron Salmon. He attended Campion College in St. Andrew and graduated from Devry University in Orlando with a degree in electronics and computer technology.
The Kalling is the second album by Kabaka Pyramid, one of the pioneers of the roots-reggae renaissance that began in Jamaica ten years ago. Kontraband, his first, was published in 2018. Marley, who has assisted in directing Kabaka Pyramid’s career and toured the US with the Marleys and the American band Rebelution, also had a significant role in the production of that album.
