The honor of carrying the American flag at Sunday’s Super Bowl LVII has been given to a US Navy sailor of a Jamaican descent by the name of Shyeed Crooks.
The 30-year-old Petty Officer 3rd Class was drawn at random from a hat.

Before the Philadelphia Eagles play the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Crooks, 30, will be the sailor carrying the Navy flag with the color guard.
Crooks was born in the parish of Clarendon and currently resides in St. Lucie County, Florida. He joined the Navy Ceremonial Guard in 2021. As a member of the Joint Armed Services Color Guard, the former Jamaica College student will be making his television debut.
Crooks expressed, “I feel a little bit of weight on my shoulders knowing that I’m representing my colleagues, the Navy, and my family.”
“This is a job that really the one percent get to do, and I do not take that for granted at all,” he told St Lucie County media house TC Palm.
He continued, “Obviously with that responsibility, you’re going to be a little bit nervous, but I’m also trying to enjoy the moment too and have fun.”
