A Jamaican man has been named among more than two dozen individuals labeled as violent, high-threat illegal alien criminals by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and transferred to a detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
In a press release issued Tuesday, DHS identified Eric Gresford Miller as one of 26 detainees housed at the U.S. Naval Station in Guantanamo Bay. The department stated that the detainees have committed “heinous crimes” and are subject to final orders of removal by immigration judges.

Miller, according to the release, was convicted of aggravated assault with a firearm. No additional details regarding the circumstances of his conviction or his immigration case were provided.
“We’re arresting criminal illegal aliens and getting them off America’s streets. Guantanamo Bay is holding the worst of the worst, including child predators, rapists, and murderers,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin in the statement. “Whether it is CECOT, Alligator Alcatraz, Guantanamo Bay, or another detention facility, these dangerous criminals will not be allowed to terrorize U.S. citizens. President Trump and Secretary Noem are using every tool available to get criminal illegal aliens off our streets and out of our country. Our message is clear: Criminals are not welcome in the United States.”
The announcement follows a January executive order signed by former President Donald Trump, directing the expansion of the Migrant Operations Center at Guantanamo Bay to full capacity. The order authorized additional space to detain high-priority criminal aliens who are illegally present in the United States.
Efforts to reach the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, D.C., for comment or confirmation regarding Miller’s detention at the facility have so far been unsuccessful.
