Shanoya Douglas delivered a historic performance at the 2026 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships, clocking a sensational personal best of 10.98 seconds to win the Girls’ Class 1 100m title at the National Stadium last Wednesday.
The time, achieved with a 0.7m/s tailwind, is not only a world-leading mark for the season but also places Douglas among the fastest Jamaican junior sprinters in history. She now ranks behind only Alana Reid (10.92), Tina Clayton (10.95), and Briana Williams (10.97) at the high school level.

With the victory, Douglas secured Holland High School’s first-ever gold medal at the prestigious championships, adding another milestone to her growing legacy. Two years earlier, she had similarly made history by earning Muschett High School its first title.
Douglas’ dominance continued later in the championships when she captured gold in the Girls’ Class 1 200m. She produced a stunning run of 22.36 seconds into a -1.6m/s headwind, breaking the national Under-20 record and further cementing her status as one of the country’s top junior athletes.
Despite her achievements, Douglas remains eligible for the junior ranks next year, signaling the potential for even greater accomplishments ahead.
In the 100m final, Edwin Allen High School athletes completed the podium, with Alexxe Henry finishing second in 11.21 seconds and teammate Renecia Edwards placing third in 11.45 seconds.
Douglas returned to a hero’s welcome at Holland High School in Trelawny on Monday morning, where she was greeted by cheering students, teachers, family members, and well-wishers celebrating her record-breaking performances on the national stage.
