Jamaica recorded another year of growth in remittance earnings, with overseas transfers increasing by 3.8 percent in 2025, reinforcing the sector’s role as one of the country’s most important sources of foreign exchange.
According to the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ), total remittances reached US$3.25 billion during the year, up from 2024 levels. The increase was driven by stronger inflows, which climbed by US$127.8 million to US$3.49 billion, despite a decline in some other categories of remittance receipts.

The report noted that remittance companies accounted for the bulk of the growth, with transfers through these channels rising by US$170.7 million to US$3.08 billion. Meanwhile, “other remittances” fell by US$42.9 million to US$403.4 million, partially offsetting the overall increase.
The United States remained Jamaica’s largest source of remittance inflows, contributing more than US$2.1 billion, an increase of 5.4 per cent compared with the previous year. Remittances from the country’s other leading source markets also posted gains, highlighting the continued support of the Jamaican diaspora to families and communities across the island.
Remittances continue to play a vital role in Jamaica’s economy, helping to finance household expenses, education, healthcare and small business activities. The latest figures underscore the resilience of these financial flows, even amid evolving global economic conditions, and reaffirm their importance to the country’s economic stability.
