Lascelles Chin, Jamaican business giant and founder of the LASCO Affiliated Companies died last night in the US at 86 years old.
Managing Director of Lasco Manufacturing, James Rawle, said Chin was in the US for medical treatment. He assured that a statement will be issued shortly.

Condolences started pouring in from the business and political community over social media, with some paying tribute to the renowned businessman for his prolific reign at the helm of LASCO.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness tweeted: “Deeply saddened by the passing of Jamaican business giant and philanthropist, Lascelles Chin. His entrepreneurial prowess transformed LASCO into a household name, while his philanthropy uplifted countless lives.”
Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts, Adam Stewart shared: “The passing of Hon. Lascelles Chin is such sad news. A man with a heart of gold, whose name and business, the Lasco Group of companies, are synonymous with the best of Jamaica. The @atlautomotive and @SandalsResorts families, and I, salute Las Chin’s tremendous commitment to our beautiful island, spanning decades. He touched so many hearts and lives with limitless kindness and generosity, sharing his time, knowledge, and invaluable experience with the next generation of businessmen, like myself. I will certainly miss his regular handwritten notes and words of encouragement to keep pushing the boundaries and always reach higher. Chin was the executive chairman of Lasco Manufacturing, Lasco Financial and Services, and Lasco Distributors. The three entities make up the LASCO Affiliated Companies which was established in 1988.
Many of Lasco’s food products are household names in Jamaica because of their affordable prices.
Chin was awarded the Order of Jamaica in 2001 and was also awarded two honorary degrees from the University of Technology and the Northern Caribbean University. Chin founded Lasco Distributors in 1988 and has become a household name.
