Three significant UNESCO bodies, one of which is the World Heritage Committee, which has the final say over whether to inscribe a site on the World Heritage List, have elected representatives from Jamaica.
In Paris, France, during the most recent General Assembly of the States Parties to the World Heritage Convention, Jamaica was one of nine newly elected members of the World Heritage Committee.

Through 2027, Jamaica will remain a member of the Committee.
Olivia Grange, the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport, stated that it was, “important that Jamaica is at the table helping to make the important decisions in the interest of the country and other Small Island Developing States.”
Debra Kay Palmer and Tracy Commock will speak on behalf of the nation. After the Blue and John Crow Mountains were added to the World Heritage List in 2017, Jamaica was appointed to the World Heritage Committee for a second time.
Port Royal is now being nominated to the list by Jamaica. According to Grange, Jamaica plans to propose Seville Heritage Park as well.
The International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere Program and the Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport both elected Jamaica to four-year mandates in the interim.
