Eight American cruise ship passengers who were apprehended on November 9 after allegedly trying to flee Jamaica with $850,000 in cocaine were convicted of cocaine possession as well as attempting to export cocaine when they appeared in the St Ann Parish Court on Tuesday.

- Twenty-two-year-old Jamari Kitchen, a mover of, Pompano Beach, Florida, USA
- Twenty-three-year-old Kaley Hall, a daycare worker in Deerfield Beach, Florida, USA
- Twenty-three-year-old Yakine Jones, a student of NW Doctors Plantation, USA
- Eighteen-year-old Hailey Lawrence, of Sunset Lauderdale, USA
- Twenty-two-year-old Javonte Johnson, a football player from Deerfield Beach, Florida, USA
- Twenty-two-year-old Tyshena Brison, of Fort Lauderdale, USA
- Twenty-seven-year-old Troy Craig, a laborer in Fort Lauderdale, USA
- Twenty-two-year-old Ta’kayla Hooks, a hairstylist in Pompano Beach, Florida, USA.
According to reports, the eight passengers got off the ship after it landed at Ocho Rios on November 9, 2022, from Miami, Florida.
They were apparently reboarding the ship for departure at around 1:30 when abnormalities were reportedly found in their bags. Twenty-four packets of cocaine totaling a little over 17 kilos (38 pounds) were found stashed in their luggage during a search by personnel of the Narcotics Division.
On Friday, December 02, 2022, they are expected back in court for sentence.
