33 murders were perpetrated as of January 13, according to the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) first severe crime report for 2024. This number is comparable to the same time in 2023.
33 killings had also been reported in the nation during the same period the previous year.

Since the beginning of 2024, there have been one or more killings in thirteen of Jamaica’s nineteen police divisions.
Nine individuals have been slain in the St. James police division so far this year, compared to five in 2023. The St. James police division topped the nation in homicides for several years.
As of the review period, St Ann had five documented killings, whereas as of the same period prior year, there had been no murders in the parish.
There have been no killings reported by the police divisions of Trelawny, St. Mary, Clarendon, Kingston Western, St. Andrew North, and St. Thomas.
With 39 occurrences, shootings have climbed by 50%.
In addition, there are more reports of injuries than there were the year before—32 as opposed to 20. The reports noted that robberies and rapes have decreased.
