Prime Minister Garry Conille made a significant visit to the Clercine base in Tabarre, just north of Port-au-Prince, where the first group of Kenyan police officers has arrived. Conille reaffirmed his dedication to reclaiming areas currently controlled by armed gangs.
With Monica Juma, the head of the Kenyan delegation, present, Conille expressed gratitude on behalf of the Haitian government and people to the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MMAS), which Kenya is leading.

“At last the multinational force is here to support our national police,” Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille said at a press conference, saying work to retake the country would begin “slowly, without major fights unless necessary.”
“But I want no one to doubt our objectives,” he said. “The state will regain power and reaffirm its authority so all Haitians can live peacefully in this country.”
“The Haitian State now has the support of the newly arrived security forces to regain control of the country, house by house, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city,” Conille announced. He urged the public to be patient and recognized the steps already taken to combat gang violence.
“We are advancing step by step. We ask the population to be patient, as we stand on the brink of a new beginning,” Conille emphasized, highlighting the importance of this mission in the fight against insecurity.
The first group of Kenyan police officers touched down in Port-au-Prince on Tuesday morning at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, marking the start of their operations.
