According to the statement, the cooperation program with the Louisiana National Guard, which is seen as a crucial instrument for enhancing the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd’H) and fostering technical and strategic exchanges, was one of the areas of collaboration discussed during the talks.
Along with training new soldiers, a crucial step in the FAd’H’s professionalization and growth, the meeting also discussed the importance of human rights for security forces personnel, which is a critical component of ensuring a responsible military organization that upholds democratic principles.
The meetings, which concerned the upgrading and fortification of the FAd’H, were also attended by Major Joseph Callaway, the Deputy Chief of Security Cooperation.
According to the announcement, Moïse welcomed “this dynamic collaboration with the United States, which strengthens the foundations of a lasting partnership for a modern and efficient military force, responding to national and regional security challenges.”
